Méav Joins
the Judging Panel
for Scór Encore

This spring, our Celtic Songbird Méav, will take part in the search for Ireland's best traditional young performers on the new show, Scór Encore. The talent search program was filmed at the RTÉ studios, and will air for 13 weeks on the Irish-language TV station TG4 starting the last week of February.

"The show is called Scór Encore and it is a talent competition for individuals and groups of school children aged 7 to 18. They are all winners of local competitions who sing, dance or play instruments." Méav explained to us.

Méav joined Aindrias De Staic (multi-award winning actor, writer, comedian and musician) and Roy Galvin (musician, dancer, and former winner of the Senior Scór competition) in the panel of judges. With their combined talents and experience in traditional music, dance, and performances, the judges will crown TG4's best talented traditional young performer(s) of 2013. The contestants came from the pool of this year's Scór Na nÓg winners.

Scór Na nÓg, is a competition hosted each year by the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association). Scór (Irish for "score") is a GAA competition that combines all the colour and rivalry of Gaelic Games with the social/fun element of Ireland's traditional past-times. The events/disciplines in Scór covers all aspects of Irish culture like Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, etc. The competition is divided into two age levels, Scór Na nÓg, for young people under 17 and Scór Sinsear, for those over 17.

Thousands of talented young performers representing their GAA club, competed in their counties to win in their division for the finals. This year, seach for the champion among champions will take center stage on TG4. Scór Encore takes this talent competition to the next level.

Hosted by Barbara Nic Dhonnacha, the new TG4 series airs Sundays at 8pm beginning the 24th of Feb and will run 13 consecutive episodes up to the finale when the winner is chosen. Tune in to TG4 televison or visit their website for more information and future video streams of the upcoming episodes.

In January, Méav flew to the States to appear with PBS for a Divinas Promo. This Promo was taped for the Pledge Drive to be shown along with the concert on the PBS broadcast. Grammy Award winning producer and director, Craig Leon, and International Media Executive, Gustavo Sagastume, have combined the talents of three International stars to bring them to a world audience.

They are: Rita of Persia and Israel, Yulia of Russia and New Zealand, and Méav of Ireland. The timeless romantic setting of Paris, coupled with a dazzling repertoire, offers an irresistible combination of world, classical and crossover favorites.

Rita, the Iranian-born pop singer and actress is the most celebrated singer in Israel. Throughout her highly successful career, Rita has sold over a million copies of her albums and was named "Best Female Performer and Singer in Israel". In 2012, her album, "All My Joys," (sung in Persian), was popular in both Israel and Iran, and attained "gold" status in Israel after three weeks.

Yulia was born in Russia, but it wasn't until she moved to New Zealand that she landed a recording contract with Sony. Yulia was the first female vocalist in New Zealand to have two back to back number one hit albums. Her first solo album "Into The West" went platinum in its first week of sales.

Méav, our Celtic SongBird, is a multi-million selling Irish singer, famous for the bell-like purity of her high notes. As a solo artist, Méav has released three successful albums. Méav is equally at home singing traditional classic Irish tunes, as well as, contemporary songs. She has appeared in Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops Orchestra, a sell-out headline concert at the Quebec Celtic Festival, and at the National Concert Hall in Ireland. At a recent guest appearance for the PBS Orla Fallon Celtic Christmas Concert in Nashville, Méav received a standing ovation the moment she stepped on stage. Méav's beautiful way of singing her music flows from center stage into the hearts and souls of all who are so privileged to hear her.

The DIVINAS concert includes Méav's favorite,
"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." Méav shared that she had always loved Roberta Flack's version of this song, but also has enjoyed listening to the earlier folk interpretations of it, too.

The show also features:

Rita's lovely Persian folksong "Shaneh" and her beautiful version of "Dust in the Wind".

Yulia's beautiful renditions of "Ochi Chomia"--"Dark Eyes", the lovely "Where Do I Begin" from "Love Story" and "Autumn Leaves".

Our beloved Celtic Songbird, Méav, sings many more of our lovely favorites.
Among these are:
    "Raglan Road"
"My Love is Like a Red Red Rose"
and Méav's most beautiful rendition of the unforgettable song "Starry Starry Night" or "Vincent".
