Celtic Woman Meets and Greets the Fans
What to expect from your M&G tickets

For the Spring 2007 tour, Celtic Woman has again been generous and gracious enough to participate in PBS's Meet and Greet program, giving fans the opportunity to see and speak to their favorite Irish performers one-on-one. The price for a pair of M&G tickets ranges from $110 to $1200 this tour season.

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions:

What exactly IS a Meet and Greet?
During PBS pledge drives, most PBS stations have provided a very limited number of Meet and Greet ticket packages for those patrons who make a premium-priced donation. A pair of concert tickets, along with the M&G passes, are given as a thank-you gift for pledging. These fortunate fans are able to attend a small reception before or after the concert, during which two of the CW ladies join them to sign programmes and have a photo taken.

Whom will I be meeting?
Exactly which two girls you will get to meet at your particular venue is not known and will be a pleasant surprise for you when you arrive. The ladies themselves do not pick the venue or the schedule. It is done on a rotating basis in order for each CW to be able to participate equally, and the venues do not announce in advance who you will meet at the event.

How long does it last?
"I think it generally lasts about 15 minutes or so," said George Major, webmaster of Shooting Star, an Orlagh Fallon fansite (www.orlafan.com). Other fans who have attended M&Gs agreed with him.

May I bring along my camera?
Sorry, cameras have not been allowed. However, tour manager Rachel Davis will take a photo of you with the girls, and those will be posted on the Celtic Woman website within a week or two of the concert.

What is the overall setup like?
We asked some previous attendees to share their experiences for this publication.

George Major wrote: "The PBS M&G folks are seated in a certain section. Someone comes out to get them and bring them backstage to a greeting area/room. And then the girls chosen for that event come in. The folks are in a line and file by the girls to say 'hi' and get a photo usually. The ladies also sign CDs and Programmes."

Jan Harper (known as Irishheart to forum members), who attended a M&G last year in San Jose, found when her tickets arrived in the mail, there was an extra "pass" included, which listed the room number for the M&G. The event was scheduled to take place after the concert.

Upon arriving at the designated room, names were matched and checked against a master list. Jan provided this description: "They had two red velvet ropes set up toward the right and a table with some food on the left. There is coffee and maybe two dinner plates of small treats on the table." After a short wait of fifteen minutes or so, the girls entered the room. Jan's meeting featured Máiréad and Méav, who had positioned themselves at the end of the two velvet ropes on the right side of the room. Fans filed by in a line, while the girls introduced themselves to each one and signed programmes or CDs. Rachel took a group picture, after which the fans said their thanks and goodbyes, and the next pair in line took their turn.

"The girls were gracious and welcoming, however brief the encounter," Jan said.

Is it too late to get Meet and Greet passes now?
In some cases, no. Call your local PBS station and ask what is available. The tickets are very limited, so they do tend to go rather quickly.

Meet and Greet Prices
Marie-France posted a survey on the CW forum asking fans how much they paid for their PAIR of M&G tickets. The price (pledge amount) varies from venue to venue; most came as part of a package which included a New Journey CD, or DVD, or both. All included the price of the concert. Here are the survey price results:

Chicago, IL (April 11): $110
Palm Desert, CA (May 4): $200
Greenville, SC (February 21): $250
Providence, RI (March 5,6): $250
Manchester, NH (March 8): $300
Nashville, TN (March 24): $300
Wallingford, CT (March 3): $400
Boston, MA (March 10): $500
Atlanta, GA (March 27): $1000
San Diego, CA (May 7): $1200

Remember that your pledge helps PBS bring shows like Celtic Woman to you. The money goes to your local stations; the tickets are your thank-you gift from public broadcasting. And without PBS, it is likely that none of us would even know about Celtic Woman today.
